EBCA COACH
EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Introduction

What exactly is the EBCA Exchange Program?

Through the exchange program, the EBCA is offering its members the opportunity to take advantage of its worldwide coaching network. EBCA Exchange Coaches will have the chance to be exposed to a new coaching experience, most likely at a higher level than what they are exposed to in Europe.

The exchange program is an ideal complement to the EBCA Convention and other baseball clinics because the selected coach is receiving hands-on instruction.

The exchange arrangements may vary depending on the hosts and programs because there are not two identical programs.

However, the typical deal is that the selected coaches are responsible for providing their own airfare to the city they are assigned to. Upon arrival their lodging, transportation, and a majority of meals will be provided courtesy of the hosting organization.

In the majority of cases, the exchange program is taking place during the offseason, so it does usually not interfere with the coach's in-season duties.

Additionally, the EBCA will continue to partner with MLB's Coaching Development Program which offers one EBCA coach each year with the chance to visit an MLB club during the Fall Instructional League. Together, these programs will help to raise the level of coaching expertise among the EBCA membership.

APPLICATION

How to be selected?

The Exchange Program candidate must first have a valid membership for the year he is applying for. Not a member yet? Click here.
The candidate must download the EBCA Exchange Program Application Form, fill it in, and send it back to this address: info(at)baseball-in-europe.com

The selection procedure will begin afterwards. The EBCA Exchange Coordinator will interview the candidates, ideally, during the EBCA Convention. If you can't attend the Convention but your application is valid and seems to fit our selection criteria for a given host organization, we will organize a Skype or phone interview.

In order to keep our network of hosts organizations intact and to further the good reputation of the EBCA, only coaches that we feel will represent well the EBCA will be selected.

What will be expected from the selected EBCA Exchange Coach?

First and foremost, our EBCA Exchange Coaches will be expected to be a good representative of EBCA and of European baseball in general by displaying an open-minded approach to new ideas that might be introduced to him.

Once the selected EBCA coach has been assigned to a hosting organization, EBCA will go ahead and connect both parties with each other. Together, they will determine the details of the trip.

He will then keep EBCA updated with his schedule and will share his experience through our blog with the EBCA community.

He will be asked to fill in a post-exchange report. He may also be asked to collaborate by sharing drills or coaching tips he learned during his stay with the EBCA community.

HOST AN EBCA COACH

The EBCA has launched its Coach Exchange Program in 2011.

EBCA coaches have applied in large numbers for the available spots and all selected hosts and exchange coaches have really enjoyed the experience, from a baseball standpoint but also from a cultural standpoint.

By hosting an EBCA coach, you will contribute to the development of the game that you love on the old continent.

It is a great opportunity for host programs to create contacts for possible European prospects, team tours in Europe, market their program...

Although, most importantly, it is a great way to share baseball knowledge and grow the game.

If you are interested in becoming a partner of our EBCA Exchange Program, please fill in the form. We will get back to you as soon as possible to look deeper into the possibility.

EXCHANGE PARTNERS

The EBCA is coordinating the Exchange Coach Program. A program giving a unique opportunity for European coaches to get the hands-on instruction, a perfect complement to the clinics organized all over Europe.

This effort would not be possible without our Exchange Program partners.
